Heavy metal contamination on the rise: toxic substances even in tampons

We are increasingly burdened by harmful heavy metals - intestinal detoxification with PMA - zeolite

The reports of increasing environmental pollution in our water, air and food, which can also accumulate in our bodies and cause a variety of illnesses, continue unabated. More and more studies and scientific papers are painting an alarming picture - now an American study has even found highly critical levels of heavy metals in tampons, including those sold in our country. Stabilising and detoxifying the intestines in particular can be a measure to protect against further damage: With the special PMA zeolite in BASIC-DETOX PLUS from PANACEO, you can significantly counteract heavy metal contamination, as has been scientifically proven.

16 toxic heavy metals detected in tampons: Hygiene products can do more harm than good

Arsenic, lead, cadmium, mercury and many more: a research team from the USA has published worrying results on the contamination of tampons in a recent study1. This study is making waves internationally: When analysing samples from a wide range of tampon manufacturers, the scientists found highly toxic heavy metals in sometimes high concentrations.
The study analysed tampons from 14 different well-known manufacturers in 18 product lines and five different absorption strengths. All 16 metals tested were detected in all tampons! It is particularly alarming that extremely harmful concentrations of toxic heavy metals were found in some tampons. The highest concentration was found in the metal zinc, which can also be harmful in high quantities. Although the study does not mention any specific brand names, it does mention that three of the tampons analysed are also available in Europe.

‘Worryingly, we found concentrations of all the metals we tested for,’ says Jenni A. Shearston, lead author of the study.Kathrin Schilling, co-author of the study, adds: ‘Although toxic metals are ubiquitous and we are exposed to low levels at all times, our study clearly shows that metals are also present in menstrual products and that women may be at higher risk when using these products.’

Tampons carry harmful substances directly into the body

The mucous membranes in the intimate area are particularly sensitive and therefore absorb toxic substances particularly easily. This means that by using these tampons, women could unknowingly be paving the way for toxic heavy metals to enter their bodies. The research team suspects that errors in the manufacturing process are responsible for the contamination. Contaminated raw materials or the use of metal compounds for purposes such as odour control or antimicrobial properties could play a role.

Even those who use supposedly ecological tampons are not protected: Differences between chemical and organic tampons were also found, but only the heavy metal concentrations differed: the lead concentration was higher in non-organic tampons, while higher concentrations of arsenic were detected in organic tampons. So all types of tampons are harmful.

Increasing heavy metal pollution in the environment and food

Numerous studies in recent months have shown that our drinking water, our air and our industrially produced food are increasingly contaminated with heavy metals. These findings make it clear that contamination with toxic metals is a growing problem that goes far beyond the use of tampons.

How can you protect yourself from this heavy metal pollution?

PMA - Zeolite can help

It is primarily the intestines and the liver that play a decisive role in the absorption and excretion of harmful substances, including heavy metals. When heavy metals are absorbed through food, air and water - or even through tampons - these substances enter the digestive tract, where they are partially absorbed into the bloodstream. A healthy gut and an intact liver can help to eliminate some of these harmful substances before they enter the body.

However, an overload of heavy metals can damage the intestinal barrier and increase the absorption of toxic substances and put excessive strain on the liver. If your intestinal barrier is damaged, heavy metals and other toxic substances can enter your bloodstream more easily. This also means more work for your liver, which has to filter out these toxins. An overloaded liver can then work less effectively, which can lead to a build-up of harmful substances in your body and jeopardise your health.

Targeted detoxification with our PANACEO BASIC-DETOX PLUS

A targeted detox programme can help to reduce heavy metal contamination in your body. Our PANACEO BASIC-DETOX PLUS is a product with our special PMA zeolite, which can bind heavy metals in the intestine and support their elimination. This can reduce the overall burden of toxic metals in your body and promote your intestinal health.

The PMA zeolite in PANACEO BASIC-DETOX PLUS acts like a sponge in your gastrointestinal tract and selectively binds harmful substances. These are then simply excreted in the faeces before they can enter your bloodstream. This relieves the strain on your intestines, liver, kidneys and immune system. In addition, your daily calcium and magnesium requirements are naturally supported by the dolomite (a naturally occurring mineral consisting mainly of the elements calcium and magnesium).

By the way:
Our PANACEO BASIC-DETOX PLUS is of course also a certified medical product with scientific efficacy.
